And then there's the crying Madonna.
Don't get me wrong. I like the show. I'm interested. But it's time that they realize that they have a world with a style and a pattern of powers established. You can't fuck with that after a season of exposition. The amnesia thing is a little soap opera but it's necessary. The writers know that with Peter and Sylar they've made uber-characters that are too powerful to function, so they find (sometimes) hokey ways of taking some power back later.
The real weakness in the world building is the comic. All the comic is doing recently is establishing people's catch phrases a bit early (Robots and Aliens) or ruining the timing of a dramatic reveal (that illusion girl was a stereotypical greasy, fat and pimply goth chick). Going back a bit father we find the Gittleman fiasco. Bring in a major character with an odd power. Then tie her into the series on TV. then give her a huge sub-plot in the comic. Then kill her off. Wow, that was a lot based around her. And do you know what made it into the show? She shows up in one episode and then is never seen or referenced again. Huge failing. The comic was going to be a way to introduce characters, judge viewer response and then possibly bring them onto the show. But now there's Heroes: Origins. So drop the shitty comic! The writing is bad, the tie-in is weak to non-existent and I think the only reason it's around is that they signed a multi-season deal with Nissan.
What did I love about this episode? Other than the actual actors, I kinda like the Peter story. And the fact that I don't want to sleep with him means that I don't hate his Irish girlfriend. It's about time he got a little happiness, after the whole exploding and all.
Before I go into the caps I just want to steak out some theory:
Mohinder. I think he is immune to all disease. His sister was a mutant and we've never seen a situation with one sibling with a power and one without. He was born to help her and his blood has anti-bodies to a disease that wouldn't affect him at all unless he has the gene mutation. So it's pretty much stated he has a power. And I think that's it. Maybe it'll revealed when he meets the twins, she goes all weepy and he's fine. Shocker!
And now for me episode re-CAP! If this is popular I might make it a regular thing.
Painfully obvious movie reference 1. Ha!
Painfully obvious movie reference 2. Haha!
Ok, that one is totally my reference. But I've been thinking it since episode one this season.
